At the laboratories of the Mechanics Department of the Milan Polytechnic, with the use of copies of the most recurring vases, tests on a shaking table were conducted, in order to validate the codes and provide the input parameters necessary for the modeling activities. The vibrations set on the vibrating table simulated both those from transport on trucks and those from earthquakes.
As far as the study of transport vibrations was concerned, tests were carried out on different crates, with different cushioning materials, used in the transport of works of art, in order to identify the most effective ones. Finally, the prototype display case was also subjected to tests on the shaking table and the dynamic behavior of the display case under the various seismic stresses imposed on the table was monitored.
